Dane's 3rd birthday

We celebrated Danes birthday last week, I can't believe my 'Baby Dane' is 3! Seriously it blows my mind how fast time is going. Some fun facts about Dane...he's baby #3 and he was my hardest baby. I mean like, he was SO HARD!!! I'm pretty sure he cried the whole first year of his life, and if he wasn't crying, he was spitting up. So his 1st year was not my favorite. But since then he has become someone awesome that fits perfectly in our family. I can remember when he was probably 15 months we were driving out to go fishing and he said something cute in the car and I turned to Rob and said 'I finally like Dane' I've been going off of loving him because he is my kid, but I really like him!' Yep he was that hard kid.  He is still my hardest kid, in that he cries all the time. Look at him weird, he cries. Touch him, he cries. Scare him, he cries. You get the idea, he cries ALOT. But he is also the sweetest kid on the block. He will give one of the other kids, or even a stranger, his toy if it will make them happy. He loves Londyn so much! He gets so excited to see her every time she wakes up, and the feeling is reciprocated. He has me wrapped around his finger. Over the summer, with Rob in Texas, he took over as my sleeping partner. And I didn't mind it one bit. He still tries to sneak in, and I let him cuddle for a few minutes (more like an hour if we're being honest) He seems to have this extra sense, he can tell when his mama needs some extra love. And he gives it freely! He has become his dads favorite fishing partner, don't tell the other kids, because he will sit there and fish with him while the other kids explore. And he asks daily if he can go fishing. He tells me I'm beautiful when I feel like I look the worst, every day! He looks for ways to be helpful, most of the time. Sometimes he's a pain, and we still love him. He is the funnest 3 year old that I know, and we feel grateful to have him in our family every day! I hope he never grows out of his cowboy faze. Everything is cowboy for him. He wants to wear his cowboy shirt, and boots (thanks grandma and grandpa Taylor) everyday. He has a rope and we got him a belt. Now he is just saving his money for a horse and hat. Then he will be complete! Ummm...so cute!

He wanted his dad to make his cake. I was going to make a monster, dad 'takes the cake' with an alligator at the Bayou. I feel like we are given the kids to help us learn something. Dane is teaching me patience and unconditional love and honesty. Please let dad make my cake, he does a good job...And I love him for that.

These two boys are best buds. Dane has taught us what Nephi talks about (check out the Book of Mormon, it AMAZING!) to frankly forgive. They can be fighting and Dane will get hurt, and the next second he has forgiven him and wants to play. He will even share whatever toy they were just fighting about. So it's pretty cute that Max wanted to give him his favorite matching hat so they could be twinners.

It's been a pleasure to watch Kylie treat Dane with all the love of a mom. I'm pretty sure she would do anything for him, and the road goes both ways. When we are playing, if Max gangs up on Kylie, Dane will asses the situation and then normally help Ky. Although he's pretty quick to jump on her; he has to gang up with 'the boys' when he can. His new favorite thing is to tell me that boys rule.

At the end of the day, we feel so grateful for our family. Family is forever. Family is what is most important in the world. Doing all this traveling with school has helped me to realize there are amazing people everywhere. I'm grateful for our adopted family. And we're pretty lucky to have Taylor and Kelsey here in Louisiana with us. We met during our school time in Peoria and have been so grateful to have met them in Louisiana with us.
Life is great, and I guess you could say that being 3 is great!
