We started our week off right, we have had the missionaries over for dinner once a week and have come to truly love them! They are such amazing young men that bring a great spirit in our home. Well a few weeks ago Elder Topham got transferred and because of a meeting over in our neck of the woods was able to come have dinner with us Monday night! It was so good to see him catch up!
In between school and Rob working we were able to spend an evening out fishing. We found a different bayou that's not too far out. Its gorgeous! I must have been cranky, what me in the outdoors cranky, because Rob decided we needed to have a competition making stuff out of twigs that a human could recognize. The catch was that we were going to use the fishing plyers.
I felt so proud of my flute until he showed his bowling pin. But I feel confident in my dolphin, which he helped me with, once he finished his heart. That man puts up with all my craziness and we manage to have a ton of fun in the process. I'm sure he feels like he has another kid most of the time.
We decided Thursday night that if we were going to go check out Arkansas before we move (less than 2 weeks!!) we would have to do it this weekend. So we loaded up Friday with everybody and all the warm gear we could find and headed north. It was the the best thing we've done in a really long time!
We were in the mountains, exploring and enjoying nature like we used to do and it was wonderful.
We kept saying how glad we were that we decided to go and I think we'll talk about that trip for years to come!
The fall leaves weren't in their 'peak' but they were still beautiful! It was so refreshing to get up in the mountain, fresh, crisp air and have to be bundled up and moving fasts to we didn't freeze. I loved it!
We ended up staying in Russelville, Arkansas and found a hike, pedestal peak that was amazing! It wasn't hard so the kids were able to do it and it was just perfect!
We hiked around a bunch of caves and cliffs and beautiful country!
Then we rushed home and made it just in time for the ward fall social (halloween party) and had so much fun! It's crazy how much the people here have influenced our lives, especially given how short a time we have been here. But they are good people!
And they had helped me come closer to God thru their examples and the encouragement and kindness. The south really does have have a 'southern charm' that its amazing! And my white chicken chili won 1st place as the best chili out of 15! Thank you Kristen for that recipe...its always a huge hit!
